Worship

In the Episcopal Church, our worship is rooted in Scripture, the Anglican Tradition, and the Book of Common Prayer.

We emphasize the mystery of encountering God in worship—the God who has chosen to reveal God’s self to us in the Scripture and the Sacraments.

Our worship services are found in the Book of Common Prayer. Originally created from medieval liturgies at the time of the Reformation and revised over the subsequent years, our prayer book is filled with the beautiful language of well thought out and oft-prayed prayers that have sustained believers through the centuries.

We celebrate the Holy Eucharist (also called Holy Communion, the Lord’s Supper, and the Mass) at most of our services. All baptized Christians, regardless of denomination, are welcomed to receive Communion in the Episcopal Church. Anyone who for whatever reason does not wish to receive Communion is welcome to receive a blessing. Anyone who desires the Sacrament of Baptism is invited to contact our priest.

We offer three services throughout the week—two on Sundays and one on Wednesdays. All of our services are livestreamed on our Facebook page for unable to attend in-person.

Sundays

We have two services on Sunday mornings—one at 8:00 and another at 10:30—as well as Sunday School at 9:30 a.m.

8:00 a.m.

At the 8:00 a.m. service, we celebrate using Rite I. (In the Episcopal Church, Rite I refers to services that use traditional language.) This early service doesn’t have music, so it is a quieter, more reflective service.

10:30 a.m.

Our 10:30 a.m. service on Sundays typically uses Rite II. (Rite II refers to services that use contemporary language; we do use Rite I in some seasons of the Church at this service.) At this service, we have music (usually the organ and/or piano) and a choir.

Wednesdays

Every Wednesday, we gather at 6:00 p.m. for a healing Mass. At this Mass, the sacrament of Anointing and prayers for healing are offered each week. The Mass is followed by a potluck supper and a Bible Study.
